New postal vote handling rules

Legislation will come into force for elections for Thursday 2 May which places a limit on the number of postal votes a person can hand in at a polling station. You will not be allowed to hand in more than five postal votes for other electors, plus your own (six in total if one of the postal votes is yours). Anyone handing in postal votes at polling stations will need to complete a form.

A proxy is where you ask someone else to vote at the polling station on your behalf. The person you appoint as your proxy will attend your usual polling station.
