About Us
|
 |
 |
|
Chippenham Hospital Radio is run by unpaid volunteers - both behind the microphone and behind the scenes.
We don't mind being thought of as "amateur" broadcasters. Remember, Noah was an amateur - the Titanic was built by professionals!

Derek Liddell
Pick and Mix
Thursdays, 9 - 10pm
Each Thursday evening Derek Liddell, ably assisted by our Ward Visitor Derek
Locke, presents a programme of dedications and requests from patients and staff.
In
1986 he was invited to run, as an experiment, a single-handed airshow radio station associated with what is now the Royal
International Air Tattoo. The experiment proved a success and he now heads a
team of 6 broadcasting from the airshow at RAF Fairford for 5 days every July. He
was a guest presenter with the British Forces Broadcasting Service during a 4 month detachment to the Falkland Islands in 1987. In 2003 he was invited to join Moonraker FM for its month long run in Chippenham. He joined the Station again in 2004 when it broadcast in Trowbridge and remains part
of the Moonraker team.
His
arrival in the area in 1982 coincided with the formation of Chippenham Hospital Radio.
A founder member, his involvement continues as both broadcaster and chairman.

Saturday Sports Show
Saturdays, 3-6pm
Chris is the Sports Editor
at Chippenham Hospital Radio and you can join him every Saturday afternoon to keep up-to-date with all the major sporting
events that are taking place, including regular score flashes from Chippenham Town.
Chris
says, “I love presenting the Saturday Sports Show. It’s great to be able to keep the patients informed about
what’s going on and the format of the show allows me to bring the listeners up-to-the-minute information about what’s
happening. I’m absolutely exhausted by the end of the show though because there’s no time to relax! I’m
always finding out the latest scores, results and news. It’s certainly a busy three hours and I hope my listeners enjoy
the mix of lively sports chat, fun competitions and quality music.”
Chris
enjoys all sports, but says his favourites are football (Leicester
City) and cricket (Warwickshire Bears). He also has a strong interest
in the local sports scene. He likes all kinds of music, as long as it’s got a good tune, and names his favourites as
The Beatles, Frank Sinatra and The Magic Numbers.

| Derek Locke |
|
Derek Locke
Ward Visitor
Derek does what is arguably the most important job within any Hospital Radio organisation - after
all, he is the main point of contact with our audience! He takes time to chat to the patients and staff, gathering requests
and dedications on the way. All this and he still puts in an appearance on Derek Liddell's "Pick & Mix" show each Thursday.
In the past, Derek has also made himself responsible for coordinating our fund raising efforts - a thankless but necessary
task.

| Ade Truelove |
|
Ade Truelove
Station Engineer
Ade joined CHRS around June 1997 with no prior radio broadcasting experience, although he was a club DJ for a number
of years. In his teens (many moons ago!) Ade recorded children's stories for Hospital Radio Swindon.
When he is not setting up Public Address events for CHRS or maintaining our computers and Broadcast equipment
, Ade swaps his Station Engineer's hat for a crash helmet, and spends every spare minute motorcycling on the "twisties". He
occasionally finds time to go to work, too!
